Sustainability at Evergy:
Sustainability, specifically how it breaks down into the three pillars of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues, is critical to a business in today’s market. Employees, Customers, Shareholders, and our Communities are more informed and more interested in engaging with companies that look beyond profit and have sharpened their mission, vision, and values to also focus on social and environmental aspects of their business. I’ll discuss some of Evergy’s programs and initiatives that support this ESG framework with a heavy focus on our Green Team program. Formed in 1989, the Green Team is an employee-led volunteer group of employees and retirees from across our service territory that take on projects that benefit the environment and promote stewardship and education. Completing 50 to 70 projects per year on weekends and evenings, the Green Team collaborates with conservation groups, agencies and schools in enhancing and fostering an understanding of the environment.
