What’s Going on with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)?

11:30am CT – Presentation via Zoom

Login information will be sent to participants 1 day prior to the event.

Summary

Extended Producer Responsibility, EPR, is an emerging state-based regime that aims to shift responsibility for packaging from municipalities (ultimate waste disposal functions) to manufacturers and producers. Because the laws vary by state, what is required where is both different and ever-changing. Our team will walk through who is subject to EPR, the requirements for states with EPR laws, ways to get involved and in front of ongoing EPR requirements, and finish with a discussion of potential impacts and practical tips organizations can be taking now.

Speakers:

Brittany Barrientos

Brittany Barrientos is an environmental, health and safety attorney out of Stinson’s Kansas City office. She works with clients nationally, with an emphasis across the Midwest, on compliance with regulations. She understands that these requirements change and evolve over time and enjoys working with clients to find ways to create robust, comprehensive compliance programs that meet business needs and are sustainable. When not working, you can find her somewhere with her kids, husband and/or dog, most likely at a coffee shop.

Claire Williams

Claire Williams is a partner in Stinson’s Minneapolis office. She works with environmental and energy clients in a number of sectors, with a focus on energy transactions. She has also been on the forefront of Stinson’s team digesting and advising clients on EPR requirements and how to incorporate those into existing structures. When not at work, you can find Claire searching for the closest swim-able body of water.
