 tive of your efforts\, but they say “NO – NOT IN MY BACKYARD.” We’
 ve done some research with psychologists and there is something more behin
 d the NOT in NIMBY. We will share the underlying reasons why people say NO
  and how to break through to understanding so that you can deter and resol
 ve conflict and community consensus can be reached.\n\nSpeaker Bio\nSheila
  Shockey\, founder and president of Shockey Consulting Services\, LLC\, ha
 s worked as a government staff member and a consultant since 1989. Sheila 
 brings the perspective of having worked in a government agency\, a deep un
 derstanding of the technical and planning issues and the ability to transl
 ate that information effectively to all stakeholders. When she is not talk
 ing about her kids Ali and Jack\, she is talking about sports\, politics a
 nd sewers. She loves helping ordinary citizens understand the complexities
  of public policy decisions\, especially for environmental programs. Sheil
 a holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Washburn Unive
 rsity and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from University of 
 Missouri – Kansas City. Her college professor told her she would have a 
 great career if she stayed away from sewers\, trash and animal control. Lu
 ckily\, she didn’t take that advice.
