Drones: When, Where, and How to Use Them for Environmental Problem Solving!:

For this talk, Mike Rawitch will be discussing considerations for utilizing drones in environmental problem solving. Specifically, the program will provide information on the regulations surrounding drones, industry trends, considerations for drone usage, basic drone science, and a brief flight demonstration (weather permitting). Please join us to learn about this emerging technological field as it applies to environmental work.

 

Mike Rawitch, Senior Consultant, Ramboll

Mike Rawitch is a geologist and geographer specializing in the implementation of geospatial technologies to optimize environmental problem solving. As a Senior Consultant at Ramboll, his focus is on remotely sensed data analysis, collection and visualization applied to environmental sites. Mike is an Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) team member and is a co-author on the ITRC Chapter for Advanced Site Characterization Tools. He is also a certified FAA Remote Pilot and is a senior Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) operator within the Ramboll Environment & Health Drone Program. Currently, Mike serves as the Operations Director of Ramboll AI. Born out of the Ramboll Innovation Accelerator, Ramboll AI uses drones and image analysis to understand environmental site conditions, reduce uncertainty, and help efficiently characterize and remediate environmental sites.
