SUMMARY:A&WMA ONLINE: October 2020 Monthly Meeting - Using Networks of Loca
l Air Sensors with Air Quality Models
DESCRIPTION:Program details\n10:30 am - Presentation via Zoom\n\nLogin info
rmation will be sent to participants 1 day prior to the event.\nUsing Netw
orks of Local Air Sensors with Air Quality Models:\nA wide range of air qu
ality sensor technologies have become available over the past 5-10 years\,
enabling a revolutionary shift in air pollution monitoring and assessment
. Further fueled by increasing number and severity of wildfire smoke event
s\, citizens and communities are turning to air sensors to better understa
nd local air quality. While air sensors can help answer the questions of w
hat is in the air\, there still lacks an understanding of why. Ramboll dev
eloped the Shair air quality model to help answer the question of why\, by
combining dense air sensor networks with air quality models to enable sou
rce apportionment estimates in real-time. Ramboll will introduce the Shair
model and show some results from their pilot project in Richmond\, CA in
partnership with nonprofit organization Groundwork Richmond.\nJulia Luongo
\, PhD -  Managing Consultant\, Ramboll\n\nDr. Julia Luongo leads Ramboll
’s air quality microsensor initiative and is the founder and managing di
rector of Ramboll Shair – an internal corporate startup venture focused
on cloud-based air quality modeling. Julia has experience in both indoor a
nd outdoor air quality science\, with expertise in sensor-based ambient ai
r quality measurement methods. Her doctoral work investigated the microbio
logy of indoor air and how HVAC systems affect indoor air quality and infe
ctious disease transmission risk. Specific areas of proficiency include mo
nitoring study design\, technology assessments\, emission estimation and a
ir pollutant dispersion modeling. Julia has performed indoor air quality a
ssessments and evaluations of ambient air monitoring and sensor technologi
es. She earned a PhD and MS in mechanical engineering from the University
of Colorado\, Boulder and a BS in engineering from Swarthmore College.\n\n
&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nOnly online payments are being accepted at this time.\n\n\n

 one person\, register each separately.
