Managing Waste Acceptance Risks Associated with PFAS Contaminated Wastes

Waste Management has developed a risk management program that addresses emerging and existing waste streams that exhibit some of the more challenging landfill risks such as hydrogen sulfide formation, heat generation, wet wastes impacting landfill stability and/or occupation hazards.  This presentation will review application of the Waste Watch Program to PFAS containing wastes in a period of regulatory uncertainty at the State and Federal level while protecting human health, the environment and company assets.

Richard Green, MS –  Director of Waste Approvals, Waste Management, Inc.

Rich joined Waste Management in 1988 and served in numerous EHS compliance and operational roles.  Currently he serves as Director of Waste Approvals for Waste Management and oversees hazardous and nonhazardous special waste acceptance into 260 nonhazardous landfills and five hazardous waste business units.  Additional responsibilities include development and management of the Company’s Waste Watch Program that applies risk management principles to unique and emerging waste streams and funds multiple academic waste stream research projects.  He has a BS and MS in Environmental Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and resides in Katy Texas.
